Hi Folks
Has anyone encountered a dry mouth or incessant thirst, possibly from immunotherapy (or chemo) meds? What are you taking for it - does any OTC reliever work? I've got so desperate I've been looking for some Oralieve or some saliva replacement spray (the head and neck group is good for recommendations in this space as they suffer Big Time with this from RT) but haven't found anything yet. It seems the Good Stuff is prescription-only. Boo!
I suggested to my oncologist my incessant thirst could be attributable to dry mouth. Good shout he says as it's a known side effect of ipi/nivo. But he followed it up with a trivial (in my opinion) suggestion to try pineapple and my patience has run out with this now (not working). I need to speak to my GP anyway so I thought she would be obliging with a prescription (she is nice lol) but usual problem - fastest finger fail at 8am to speak to the receptionist.
Hi Erchie,
Don't mean to butt in but this sounds great.
"My daughter visited today and we had a really good day doing the shops and practicing golf with plastic balls in my back garden. So starting to live a little again."
Keep on rocking...Del.
Oh that sounds so so positive, It’s good that your treatment has started and I hope it runs really smoothly for you. Psychologically I think it helps when treatment starts as you feel a bit more in control when something is happening. The way I see it is that side effects just show that the treatment is working and for that we should be thankful. But if you get anything bothersome then talk to your consultant as they are good at finding ways around it and sometimes like the antihistamine idea just taking a step back from the bigger picture and looking at the individual problem can really help ……we can get overwhelmed by the cancer diagnosis.
Depression …..uurgh think we are all there with you ….it’s good to talk and sometimes our loved ones either just want a bit if normal back, are sick of hearing about it or it’s too painful to hear our inner worries and fears or as with my hubby ….he is a fantastic fix it person …but this is beyond his Mr fix it book . So it’s good that we can vent off here as well.
Wishing you all the best with your treatment and with no wearisome side effects.
good luck and take care
Trish xx
I've got the dry eyes to match now, confirmed by my optician. I have the dancing black spots in my vision. Trying Hycosan Extra eye drops. They seem to have helped with the blurry vision but not helping the black spots. People seem to say that your brain gets used to it and you stop seeing them after a while so I am patiently waiting for that to kick in. Hey ho.
Hi mMum. being a 77 yr old l have had black spots in vision for years and have been know to chase one round the garden thinking it was a wasp. I assume yours is connected to your confition and certainly my condition got worse duging chemo. Persevere with the drops, it will improve over time. Love Adrian
Think we could write our own book of the different side effects that are maybe not on the leaflets …..keep going and yes hopefully your brain will stop seeing them after a while. I have some blackots after having a detached retina but strangely since being on immunotherapy I’m not seeing them now …no not going to think about it too much or I will
. Hope they soon disappear for you xxx
I now have a strange vision of you running around the garden with a fly swotter chasing a wasp whilst I am clapping my hands after a midge that’s flying by ……still trying not to think about them xx
love Trish xx
Hi Adrian,
