Hi, bamo99,I havnt had an operation because my kidney cancer has gone too far and has already spread to my bones so it’s too late to operate. I did have a biopsy to check it was cancerous.
I am now being treated with cabozantinib ( an immunotherapy drug) to try to reduce the tumours and keep me alive longer. I know it’s hard at first when you are diagnosed but it does get better and you are lucky they are able to operate. Hang in there and stay positive.

Hi bamo99,
I had my operation to remove my left kidney, but I did not have a biopsy either they checked when my kidney was removed, so some have biopsy’s and some don’t do you trust your consultant about your treatment, try not to worry too much and when do you have your operation soon I hope I will pray for you
Hi Sandra ye that's how they are doing mine once out they gonna send off to be tested. I've got to go in for bladder stretch first as keep getting infections and consultant said he wants that done first to reduce all risks. I've had my pre op still waiting on date take care xxx
Hi bam099, I was diagnosed initially with a brain tumour, which was subsequently successfully removed. However a follow up scan revealed that I had a large tumour on my left kidney, which apparently was the source of the brain tumour. The kidney and most of the plumbing was successfully removed and I am now on immunotherapy treatment. At the time I was terrified what the future would hold and very concerned about living with one kidney. 8 months on and I am technically cancer free but still receiving immunotherapy to prevent recurrence. Living with only one kidney doesn't appear to have made any difference to me living a normal active lifestyle and I am very happy with the treatment I have received.
All the best,
Mike
Hi all sorry my account went down they tried to sort it with no success so they suggested I set new one up with different email as I've done. But had to pick different user name as obviously bam 99 had gone. So this is me busybee. So since I've not been on I started with urine infection at Christmas but left it. Eventually couldn't take it anymore got antibiotics off gp. Was good while on but now they have finished all symptoms are starting up gain. So also I've got date for my first operation and that's Thursday coming then 6 wks later partial nephrectomy operation can anyone tell me what to exspect thinking of u all xxx
