Hi everyone, just seen my Oncologist who told me that after 6 Chemo Cycles my cancer has stabilised. OK could have been better or worse but hey-ho, "stabilised" will do for me!.

I am having more chemo and my main concern now is fitness levels. Does anyone have any tips, other than walking, to inprove leg strength and help flatten the chemo stomuch.

Thankyou in advance

  • Hi Adrian

That's good to hear that your cancer has stabilised.

I can't help with your questions on how to improve your fitness level but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily spotted by other members of the group.

You could speak to one of the cancer information nurse specialists on the Macmillan Support Line and they should be able to give you general hints and tips. They can be reached by dialling 0808 808 0000. It's completely free to call and they're available every day between 8am and 8pm.

  • Hi Adrian,

I am so pleased that all is stable for you, I was thinking about your question, in the next town to me I have joined a group that do lots of social events, there is also a gym where the trainers runs lots of different courses for the members, their also run swimming courses and do organised training for all of us I did take part in the chemo size fit in the gym to get my body fit before my chemo session, I don’t know if the Macmillan will be able to help you find a group like this as my Macmillan nurse gave me a leaflet for them, they are called cancer unite there might be another group in your area.

  • Thank you Sandy. I have enrolled on a 1 to 1  with a "Chemo Rehab Pilates Trainer", even tho' l am still on Chemo. My 50 yr old "kids" are very impressed. My wife has been encouraging me to do this for 30yrs. I gave up in the endRofl .

l shall report back on the benefits. Thank you everyone especially you Sandra55 and Latchbrook for help and advice. Joining Macmillan Community has been life enhancing. Thanks Suffolkflyer (Adrian)
