Hi all.

I’ve only just found this community and as I have read many of the threads on here I thought it’s about time I contributed.
OK I am 59 years old, and apart from a heart attack and 3 stents 15 years ago, been relatively healthy. Had a scan for suspected kidney stones around 5 weeks ago, and they found a tumour on my right kidney. After a couple of CT scans they have told me it’s 9x9x4 cms.
I have been transferred to the care of the Royal Free Hospital in London and I have been given an operation date of the 7th November.

They are to remove the right kidney. Apparently they are operating using a Robot called DaVinci !!

Obviously I am very concerned, and not too sure what’s going on right now, but I have a couple of appointments to attend next week before my op.

I’ll keep you posted! Thanks for listening. And sorry for my ramblings.

  • Hi Scubacrazy ( what a great username!)

Like u,I  had to have my right kidney out - 14 years ago - tho by a real person lol. Mine was 9 cms too .

Since then, I've had umpteen mets n been on meds for several  years( see profile if u really want to know, yawn). But the main thing  to say is that kidney cancer is a slow grower compared with other cancers, as many in this group will attest.

Good luck with your upcoming appointments n keep us posted.  N no you're not rambling

Fear of the unknown is the worst thing. Once we know what we're facing, we find the strength to deal with it.

    Hi Scubacrazy

Sorry you've found yourself here. I'm a left kidney out - 5 years ago. It's great that you've already got your op date, waiting for that can be quite hard work.

It's a good date too - you'll be fully recovered by Christmas with any luck - and be able to fully enjoy iy.

Will be keeping fingers crossed for you.
