Found out today from my oncologist that new ruling means NHS won't fund Pazopanib if u have a break of more than 3 months.

There are other drugs available for kidney cancer, but if you've got used to taking Pazopanib be warned!

That’s depressing news. Makes me wonder what is the point of the Star Trial if people aren’t going to be allowed extended breaks.

Oh no, that affects you doesn't it? So where does that leave you now?

I've never been offered more than a couple of weeks break, but never got to the stage where it would likely be safe to have a prolonged break either. Wonder what the theory is behind that?

I've been all over NICE and NHS England websites and that info isn't published yet :(

  • It was literally yesterday my oncologist told me. He's usually very on the ball with things and is  involved in research so I doubt he'd've got it wrong. Suspect they're hanging fire on publicising it...

Yes it affects me in that it's 3 years + since I last took it. When I came off it, I was told I'd b able to go back on it as I'd responded well to it.

Fear of the unknown is the worst thing. Once we know what we're facing, we find the strength to deal with it.
