Hi I am 4 days post op, and the pain is unreal, I had partial kidney removed with a tumour attached it was done robotic x

  • Hi Lou,

The pain will get less. Four days post op is very early days.

I can remember walking round with a Zimmer frame (aged 48 lol ) when I was around your stage post-op n barely able to stand up straight. Other ppl will no doubt say the same.

    We're wishing u better xx

Hi f10ralW0man, Thank you for your reply I’m glad it’s normal I was thinking something was wrong .. I now they said it would be painful but this is unreal xxx

  • Do make sure u get adequate n regular  pain relief n tell the nurses n docs about it, just in case there is anything awry.

  • Yes the pain is dreadful! My 93 year old mother walked better than I did! Keep taking the pain killers and try walking a little more each day . It definitely helps. Suddenly you’ll realise the pain has eased. Four weeks post op I felt almost pain free. I had a radical laparoscopic nephrectomy. Be kind to yourself and rest a lot. As I was told by my consultant ‘it is major surgery ‘.

I hope you are steadily feeling better.  I am a 38 year old male and had a keyhole radical nepherectomy on my left kidney on April 8th.  The pain was incredible and walking for the first 7-10 days was very, very difficult.  I was hunched over and shuffling about, not getting anywhere particularly fast. But, you do and will get better.  I have just completed my second day back at work and was very doubtful that i would get to this place in the immediate aftermath of my surgery yet here I am.  I wish you the very best of healing and luck.
