I have had a kidney removed 3 years ago and was told it had not spread to any lymph nodes, had scans every 4 months, then beginning of last year went to 6 months. Scan carried out in July showed the cancer had come back and had not been told the lymph node had grown on previous scans. Have had one cycle of the Pazopanib tablets and started off fine until after Xmas and then suffered with the majority of the main side effects I was told about. Had blood tests and was told ‘my levels’ were too high and to wait a couple of weeks which was a relief as my appetite came back and was able to put on weight and was not sick. Have been told I need a scan on my liver and waiting for that appointment now. Had a recent blood tests to check ‘levels’ and now back on the tablets and the side effects kicked in within 24 hours. Is anyone else in these tablets?
Yes im on these. In less than a week I was in hospital when they dropped my heart rate to 39bpm and my blood pressure went sky high. They were stopped for 2 weeks and I was started on them again Tuesday just gone on a low dose of 1 every other day. My heart rate has dropped to between 48 and 55 bpm within 24hrs which I can live with. Sickness and light headedness is bugging me. I am supposed to up the dose to one tablet daily this week but dont think my heart will tolerate it even though its only half the dose I am supposed to be on.
Pazopanib was my last chance as I have had anaphylaxis and severe reactions to others. My oncologist said he thought I would be fine with it but im not very hopeful.
I hope you have more success. Have you tried any others?
Sorry for the late response was waiting to see what latest blood tests showed liver function 285 so told to stop taking Pazopanib for another two weeks. Blood tests every week and ultrasound of liver on 16 Feb and appointment to see consultant around the same date to see what he thinks. I have not been on any other medication was told my choices were either watch and wait, Pazopanib or immunotherapy and Pazopanib or in another way watch and wait Quality of life or longevity. So hopefully they will change them to something else which he did say at start there were others. Just sicking them up after a minute and the sickness tablets ( Ondansetron 8 mg ) as well. My Pazopanib dose was 800 mg once per day All the very best
