Hi I had my kidney removed last year and I was told it was Pt3a. I’ve had a scan last and it was all clear. I’ve just had another scan and will get the results in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if anyone also had it at Pt3a and wondered what was you told and if needed any treatment etc. thanks

  • I have the same pT3a R0. Had radical R neph dec 25. I have been offered furthur treatment. It is good news on your scans being clear. Hopefully you will know more with your next follow up. Fingers crossed the scan remind clear.

  • Once I had my kidney removed, they did the biopsy, and they told me it was stage 3, I was told it would be better for me to get immunotherapy as the cancer was quite aggressive. I did this for just under 10 month but the Pembro messed up my lungs but this was a super rare side effect. I have been told, though, as of last week, I'm still cancer-free

  • Hi Paul.

Mine is the similar to you. Had the operation then reviewed the kidney once out. They said they got everything out and my was the aggressive type. I think they are concerned with a small less than 3mm lesion on R upper lung, but said they are not concerned yet.

Had my follow up scan yesterday and I am seeing Oncology 10th Feb. We are hoping the lung remains the same and not increased in size. I have been suggested to have the immunotherapy Pembro too.

Great news you managed 10 months of treatment before issues. :)

  • Thanks for the replies. When I had op last year they told me it was PT3a but they happy just to scan now and no further treatment. But then I was seeing some people was also Pt3a but are having treatment offered so was a little confused.

  • Its all individual case based. So thinking I am having treatment due to lung lesion on scan and my cancer measured 12cm in aize. More precaution and preventative then actioning later as lung (if it is) I know can depending on type grow rapidly.

  • Ah ok thank you. Mine was 7.5 x 6.5. I will ask them when I have my app next week to discuss the results of this weeks scan. Have you had you GFR blood results done since op? Have they changed much. Thanks for replying

  • I have had no blood tests following operation. So I am assuming they are okay. Whilst recovering in ITU for 5 days I know it was around 60 egfr which is not concerning from my point of view. I am sure before treamtent starts they will do some blood tests to check everything

  • Hi sorry for the late reply. Had my scan results and was all fine so they happy to do another scan in 2 years. I asked about thePT3a and I’m more low risk so that’s why no treatment offered. How did your follow up app go ?

  • Lung no changed and the small lesion remained the same. So unlikely to be a cancer.

Will be starting immunotherapy last week of Feb. There are like with any cancer treatments can cause side affects and some can become permanent. But can manage those if they happen. So not really bothered about them and to many to list, but its worth the risk and the benefits of reducing the cancer growing somewhere else.

So as its stands today...I am cancer free in remission! but high risk the cancer could return which would be incurable ( But not worth thinking about) as I am alive and have treatment plan to hopefully prevent this in the future.

So I am over the moon Crescent moon and happy with the appointment today....I am on cloud 9 and above...xxxx
