Hi
I have had Cancer for 2 years, I had a Radical Nephrectomy in 2023, with ongoing CT Scans and further Lymph Node removal. However I have 2 small lesions on my lung. But still no mention of any therapy, is this normal or should I be worried. I’m scared it’s going to spread even more. I was told at the start that any future Immunotherapy would be Palliative.

Hi Choccylab,
If you are worried about the lung lesions, could you contact your support nurse, if you have one, or your oncologist's secretary, to arrange to have a discussion about it?
Immunotherapy or targetted therapy drugs can be used to control the lesions. Yes, it is classed as palliative treatment, not curative, but many people have had very successful results on these treatments. Please don't worry too much!
Maybe you are being monitored so that treatments can be introduced if and when needed.
Best wishes
Kate
Hi Choccylab62, sorry to hear your cancer has spread. I agree with Puddock that it’s a good idea to try to speak to someone to find out what the plan is - there will be one. My husband is in a similar situation, though he has had his bladder & prostate removed too. He also went on to develop two small secondary tumours in his lungs. It was about three months before they decided to start him on chemotherapy. This reduced the size of the tumours and he is now having immunotherapy. His last scan showed that the tumours hadn’t got bigger, so he is continuing with fortnightly immunotherapy. Both this & the chemo are being given as palliative treatments: the word palliative upset us both at first as it sounded a bit final but, one year on from the secondary tumours being identified, he’s doing okay &, although he gets very tired, is able to enjoy life. (I should say that we live in Spain, but I think that treatment plans are broadly the same as in the UK). Good luck with getting some answers!
Thanks Kate hopefully I will find out more next week I have an Oncology appointment

Hi Miranda I’m glad to hear your husband is now doing well,l I have another appointment next week, so I will find out then hopefully what they are planning. I hope the weather is better there, than here. A very wet Cornwall
Hiya Choccy...I have similar diagnosis..but mine is in both lungs and adrenal gland.
I am being scanned 3 monthly to watch growth pattern.
I am classed as stable atm. I asked about my treatment and they will start if and when any nodules reach 2cm.
Hope this is helpful.
Remember as the others have said you can always contact your medical team to ask about ur treatment plan.
Hugs and love
Thank you, that is more reassuring. I have 3 month scans also, so it would seem to be the norm.
