My dad was recently diagnosed with 8cm kidney tumor, there has been a lot of back and forth and the entire medical team is meeting tomorrow. First we thought it hadn’t spread and were told it wasn’t metastic and then 30 mins later they said they could see two small lesions on the spine but couldn’t identify them yet as cancerous or not.
we will likely have to wait a week until we know more but I was originally feeling hopeful and now am feeling very anxious, can’t sleep and scared
Hiya Badger. Sorry to hear your dad has been diagnosed with kidney cancer.
It is scary for all concerned, but if u get a chance read some of the other messages on this site.
Mine has moved to my adrenal glands and lungs and though now classed as incurable it is treatable.
The treatments now are amazing from immunotherapy to targeted therapy with amazing results for many.
The stage ur at is the worst, the tests, the waiting. When ur dad's medical team have all the facts they will form a plan and that is when u will feel more in control.
We are a great community here so take heart sweety. Any advice just ask, we are always about.
Hugs and love to u and your dad
Hello and welcome to the group.
We are all so very different in our experiences and journeys.
I have a little so and so which I've decided to monitor till ready to get rid.i was told , as fleabane said, it's very treatable.
Then there's you, to be there for your dad it's good to talk and voice this to your GP, who may well be able to advise, plus there are phone numbers etc on this site who can advise accordingly.
All the best to you both
Muvva
In September 2022 my beloved wife Lorraine was diagnosed with metastatic kidney cancer. A large tumour on her kidney, a large one in her right humerus, and small ones on her spine and in her lungs. She started treatment on immunotherapy but had to stop that because of toxicity. She is now on targeted therapy and her cancer is stable with the kidney tumour having reduced markedly in size. Her quality of life is good and right now she feels well.
Maintain hope. 'Hope springs eternal in the human breast.'
When i went to check about my scan he said nodule on adrenal gland has grown since last scan but i didnt even know it was there in the first place so they were abit naughty saying previous scan was clear! Makes it hard to trust what they say. Scan after op was clear so referred back to urology. Havent heard off them but i should be due a scan sept/oct. Feel abit in limbo.glad theyre keeping an eye on you xx
