Hi
I am new here
Could anyone whose been on pembrolizumab and axitinib elaborate on the side effects these medications caused.
My dad seems to be suffering from constipation, severe headache, hoarse voice, and rashes on his butt and testes.
Your story could be of help and also how did you manage these
Hi SJR1 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
I'm sorry to read how much your dad is suffering and I can understand you wanting to find others who have been on pembrolizumab and axitinib. I have searched the group looking for previous posts and found these which mention pembrolizumab and these which mention axitinib for you to look through.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hello SJR1,
I started on pembrolizumab on the 28th of April. It had been postponed from its original date due to blood pressure issues. I have not yet started taking lenvatinib due to said issues so my experience so far may not be of much help.
I have found that I sometimes feel a bit nauseous but by taking small sips of water it passes. I don't force myself to eat if I don't feel like it as this usually passes. I haven't experienced diarrhoea as yet but my stools have been quite soft so who knows ?
Your dad's side effects seem to be in line with what may be expected. I have heard that side effects prove that the treatment is working. Don't know if that helps.
Encourage him to contact the 24 hour line any time that he is concerned. They are there to help.
I wish him all the best.
