I had my results from my biopsy 2 weeks ago, I have a rare sarcoma (can't remember name) it's very aggressive and prognosis was terminal. My oncologist had not dealt with this sort but the hospital had seen one other case. That showed that chemo was not helpful. We didn't discuss anything further as he wanted me to have blood transfusion for my anemia (last week) and give me a little time.
On Thursday I have my follow up. I feel like everyone of my care team thinks treatment is pointless and I should just accept palletive care, but I think I should try anything regardless of how it makes me feel. Any thoughts welcome.
Hi Sweet21Pea
I'm sorry to read your news! It must have been a shock, and I can understand you reaching out to see what others think on here.
I recall another person in this forum receiving similar news recently, having a very rare cancer. Because of this, his hospital referred him to Guy's hospital in London. They are supervising his treatment.
I wonder if you could ask to be referred to a 'specialist' hospital for a second opinion? One which may have more experience in dealing with your particular cancer? You have nothing to lose by asking! And everything to gain, if your current team can't offer any treatment.
But you may get good news on Thursday, and they may have a treatment plan to offer.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
hugs

I suggest you should explore options and make an informed decision. I don't have all the info of course, but just going to palliative sounds a bit defeatist. But equally no one knows how treatment is going to sit with your body. It might be fine, awful, or result in over-riding side effects.
I note you say you feel everyone in your team thinks palliative is the way forwards. Perhaps they are just numb with the diagnosis, same as you.
Ask about trials - you never know what's coming up on the horizon. And if your hospital isn't on the radar you can always check yourself, online.
Ask lots of questions, don't make any immediate decisions, take your time to think about it. There's no wrong decisions. You're looking for the one you feel comfortable with. Let us know how you get on and good luck.
