Have just had my appointment with my Consultant Urologist after my CT Scan, for a 10cm Mass on my right kidney. Saw the CT scan on his PC screen and couldn't believe the size of it, compared to my normal left kidney.
He is almost certain that it is cancerous, BUT it is localised, and has not spread. Considering it is cancer, I am so lucky, and feel blessed.
Hopefully once I have had it removed that will be it, and I will be monitored every 6 - 12 months with CT scans.
This whole chapter in my life has been a nightmare. I feel I am so lucky compared to other's on this forum.
My radical Nephrectomy is in approximately 5 weeks, I will keep everyone updated.
Hello snellijw
Welcome to the Online Community.
I am sorry to see that you have got a mass on your kidney that your consultant feels is almost certain to be cancerous. Going through tests and finding out that you need surgery is hard but it is good that your consultant feels it is localised and you will likely just need monitoring after it is removed.
I wish you well with your surgery and have posted some information below that may be of interest in preparing for it. At the bottom of the page there is also details about other ways that you can contact Macmillan for support if you need it.
