My husbands first cycle of Avelumab and Axitinib has not got off to a good start. He had an allergic reaction during the 1st infusion of Avalumab and was kept in hospital for monitoring, 2 nights in hospital now. Apparently, this type of reaction can happen and the doctors seem keen to continue with this course of treatment at the moment. Although he has been given his 28 day supply of Axitinib, he has not yet started it.
During blood tests taken while in hospital they have now picked up on a problem with his liver function and are doing further tests and monitoring.
I was so hoping that his treatment would go without a hitch and we could get established in the routine.
Has anyone else had similar problems and how did you get on?
xx
Hi Gigi1973..unfortunately a no of drugs used to treat kidney cancer do affect liver function. I've not had this problem myself, so hope someone else can answer it. Gragon?
I know a no of ppl in the group take this combo so maybe one of them will answer your questions.
Do let us know how he gets on with the further blood tests n treatment.
