Evening ,
Hope you are all well ?
I had a partial nephrectomy 5 weeks ago and recieved my histology today. Instead of it being the celebration I expected and wanted it not been.
I'm very happy to say it was a T1 with O spread , 0 lymph nodes and slow growing , but there wasnt any clear margin it showed as a positive margin.
I will be scanned every 6 months for a while and any signs of anything and my kidney will be removed.
Has anybody else had this?
I need to contact my Macmillan nurse as my call from the consultant was 2 hours earlier than I was advised so I didnt have my list of questions to ask and I didnt get all the answers .
What questions should i be asking in regards to this?
I feel like I'm back to square one .
Thanks Jemma x
Hi welcome to the kidney cancer group. Good to hear your news
It's so long now since I had my kidney ( 16 years) that I can't think of questions tbh.
Hope someone else can help out.
Kidney cancer is generally slow growing compared to other cancers so a 6 month gap between scans should show up anything untoward going on.
Ask them what you should look out, eg blood in your urine, pain in your back. These were the symptoms I had and had to push for further investigatiions.
Sorry I can't b more help.
Sue
