Hey everyone, my names satori and i’m 20 years old . I was diagnosed with hodgkins last September and had no evidence of disease in December of 2021. I just finished chemo March 17 of 2022 and I have an appointment to go over my pet scan tomorrow and I get scared because sometimes I have random body aches and pains. my joint still hurt as well occasionally and my muscles. I was just wondering if anyone else has chest pains after finishing abvd or anything? or just random pains in general
Hi Satori, My name is Rachel. Like you I was also diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma around about the same time and I also had AVBD that finished in February. I often get some chest pains around my upper pectoral area and the middle of my chest. I spoke to my cancer nurse and she said it was a condition called costochondritis (inflammation of the connecting cartridge of the ribs) caused by over doing it. Admittedly I am a very active person and the days I’m feeling good i tend to forget that our bodies have been through a massive ordeal. I also get a lot of aching in my legs and suspect it’s my own doing. My advice would be see if the pain comes at a specific time for example after stretching and just take a step back and slow down. I would also recommend talking to your cancer nurse they are brilliant at putting your mind at ease, or when talking about your scan bring it up with them. I hope everything is fine and I wish you the best recovery.
Hi Davistori and a second welcome to this corner of the site. I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups, I don't have HL but have been treated for my rare type of NHL for coming upto 23 years now so know this bumpy journey rather well.
As DushessRvn has said, our bodies are put through ever so much during treatment. The chemo does kill off the cancers cells but there is collateral damage to healthy surrounding cells, muscle and nerves......
It too a good few year to actually say that all the aches and pains caused by my various treatments had gone...... but during these times it is normal to overthink these pains.
Highlight this to your consultant but I think you will find that you will be told to get on with life and the more active (slowly) you get these pains will start to go.
Hi, i’ve actually have had that before so maybe. i’m going to bring it up to my doctor. Thank you!
Hi, thank you for replying. I even have chest pain on the side that didn’t have tumors so I find it strange and nerve racking. I will talk about it with my dr though so thank you
I also had pains on the opposite side from where my tumour was - the chemo does touch every part of the body.
oh thank you i didn’t know if that was a thing or not for others as well. hopefully it’ll ease up, it’s not constant pain but random hits of it here and there.
