Hey everyone, I’m 20 years old, found out yesterday I had Hodgkin Lymphoma. I was shocked to say the least but I’m staying strong and trying to keep my head up regardless. Hearing the word “Cancer” hit me to my core. Regardless, it’s a bump in the road and hopefully I’ll go through treatment soon and start a journey to recovery. My prayers and support go out to everyone in this community and I’m looking forward to getting to know some of you along the way.

  • Hi  and welcome to this corner of the Community but sorry to see you finding us. I am Mike  and I help out around our blood cancer groups.

HL is very treatable with great results. The word cancer is scary but once you get year head around a blood cancer you will understand that unlike solid tumour cancers like breast, lung.... Lymphoma is completely different including the use of stage numbers. I was stage 4a, in solid tumour cancers this would be very bad news but in a blood cancer it’s a guid to where your concerns is presenting, what treatment would be best and for how long.

Do also check out Lymphoma Action, a small UK Lymphoma Specific Charity who have lots of information, videos and run regular regional online Lymphoma Zoom support groups and indeed a great Lymphoma Buddy Service.

I actually have a rare type of skin Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, diagnosed in 1999.... it’s a long story (hit members names to see some stories) but safe to say that even although my journey was rather long I did find remission back in 2016 and I am living a good life.

You will have lots of questions so this is a good safe place to ask them.

    Hi Mike Thehighlander,

Thank you for your welcoming response, nice to meet you. Sorry to hear about your previous condition but I'm also happy to hear that you are doing well now and living a good life. It's a breath of fresh air to realise that I'm not in this alone and that there are others who have gone through it and are going through it. I will check out Lymphoma action, thank you for the resource. If I do have any questions, I won't hesitate to ask. I'm feeling very hopeful :).
