Hi everyone,
My apologies if this something that comes up a lot but I just want some advice really.
I was told I was in remission from classical HL after 6 cycles of ABVD in October 2019. At the beginning of lockdown I became concerned over some lumps that I found in my groin and after much insistence I was able to get ultrasound scans done but nothing came of it.
However in the last couple weeks I’ve noticed that I’m incredibly itchy all over. I’m always feeling tired (although I have felt tired throughout the whole pandemic!) and have been experiencing some pretty bad chest pain/tightness for a couple months. I have felt like I’m fighting an infection for months with no symptoms. I also have found any illnesses that have come about really hard to get over without antibiotics. However I haven’t really noticed any significant lumps like when I was first diagnosed.
Even though I feel like it’s acceptable for me to feel anxious about my health, especially with everyone going on, I’m wondering whether it’s worth getting these symptoms checked out again. Because I’m 23 and the success of ABVD is reportedly so high for someone my age I feel I may be overreacting or that I’m just going to get a very annoyed GP on the other end of the phone. Has anyone had a similar experience or can give me some advice/reassurance?
Thank you.
Sorry to hear you are dealing with these issues. Indeed any new ‘issue’ will make 2+2 very often get 5 but it still does not answer the ‘what if’s’
If I were in your shoes, and I have been there with my type of NHL, I would talk with your clinal team as they are the only people that can find the answers. Do you still have contact details for your Specialist Nurse as they are often a good sounding board.
I agree with Mike, a chat with your specialist nurse may well be the best way to go here. Itching is a classic sign for HL though it’s not one everyone gets. But should be mentioned along with the tiredness and difficulty of throwing off infections.
