Hi, I posted on here months about about my cancer returning. I started getting pain in my left shoulder and it returned 6 weeks after I had completed treatment.
I went on to have ICE and a steam cell transplant. Now again six weeks after my transplant, I got left shoulder pain, I got a PET scan and there was no FDG activity, so they confirmed that it hadn’t returned.
But here I am a month later and I still have quite bad shoulder pain. I have suspicion that it’s back even and has grown since the last scan. I want to know if anybody has experienced the same thing. Being in remission but having pain in there area that the cancer once was.

  • Hi , although I had NHL and a different treatment journey I have had two donor Allo Stem Cell Transplants..

My main brick sized mass was in my neck, but SCT does put your body though a lot and muscle wastage can be very bad.

It took a good 3 years and a lot of exercise to overcome the pain. In my circumstances the main pain was caused by muscle wastage and damaged nerves in my neck but also a lot of muscle wastage in lots of areas in my body.

I was referred to a specialist cancer circuits class to work on the areas that needed work done to get some recovery.

    1. Hi Jessy131. I'm new to the site and can relate to your question. I am 1 year in remission and still getting aches. I know this doesnt happen to everyone as we are all different but I am hearing more people say this and its something the doctors dont really mention. It can be concerning but the effect cancer treatment has on your body can last longer. I'm hoping you have been better since your initial post
  • Hi , this is what I posted to your question in the New to Community.

Blood blood cancer treatments are very specific and full on and HL is no different to many of the other blood cancers.

Although I had NHL it honestly took a few years to say I was out the other side and most of all the various body pains had gone.

Recovery takes time as your body is put through a lot and yes, it does feel like you can age over a short time.

Thank you for your advise. Makes me feel better that I'm not going off my head. Just probably impatient to get fully better. Stay safe
