Hi everyone
I just wanted to share my story and ask some questions if I may.
I have been diagnosed with nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I had a lump in my groin which was taken out. A part of the node was found to have lymphoma.
I am awaiting a PET scan to see if it’s spread anywhere else and then a treatment plan will be put in place.
my question is, does anyone have anything similar and they did not need to have further treatment like chemotherapy? Did anyone have their lump removed and nothing further?
any responses will be greatly appreciated
Thank you x
Hi and welcome to this corner of the Community, I help out around our blood cancer groups and thoughts I would say hello.
There has been a number of folks with lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin’s lymphoma post in the group so let’s look for them to come along.
You could put lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the search tool near the top and have a look at their posts.

I have to be honest and say that you will most likely will need some chemo treatment as most blood cancer can only be treated using chemo and sometimes radiotherapy - you can cut out blood cancer.
Always around to help out.
Thank you for your reply.
the doctor said they will base a treatment plan dependent on the PET scan. I am just hoping they caught it early since it says partial lymph node involvement in my report. I guess we can only hope.
Thank you for your honesty. I am just hoping for the best, like I know we all are
can I also ask, if chemo does have to happen, will hair loss be inevitable for all treatment regimes?
also, any advice on getting eggs frozen. Has anyone with this type of cancer had eggs frozen? I have not started my family just yet and was in the middle of planning my wedding... and then I hit this massive stumbling block with my diagnosis.
i think I am still in shock as got my diagnosis yesterday
Thanks so much for all your help
Do come back and tell us what your treatment plan is as most likely done one has had it.
Thanks I will. If I can help anyone I will. We are all connected in some way now and I am so grateful to be part of a supportive community
You do need to hear that blood cancer are very treatable - yes hard work but do-able.
With regards you hair - it all depends on the specific treatment used - but most blood cancer treatments are very strong, so you do need to be prepared for this.
Talk with your team about freezing eggs as they can guide you.
I lost my hair three times but my NHL was rather stubborn so it took a lot of treatment.
When you feel up to it, it would be useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username but my journey was rather complicated.
Thanks Mike
I will have a look at yours x
I'm about to complete R-CHOP and I did lose my hair but I didn't start losing it until after cycle 2 and didn't lose it all until cycle 5. Losing my eyebrows and eye lashes followed cycle 4.
By far the most annoying thing in terms of hair loss was losing my nasal hair. My nose runs constantly without nasal hair.
Once you have more information we will be able to guide you more specifically. Until then, try to remember that lymphoma is its own thing and that anything you know about solid cancers isn't relevant to blood cancers.
Thanks for your reply Lolie.
I hope your treatment goes well with no complications.
I am just hoping for me, that it was caught early. The surgeon told me that if it was left any longer, it could have spread. They took the whole node out and one next to it. Only part of one node had NPHL and the other was fine.
He also told me that with NPHL, spread tends to happen in one place before migration to another node.
I am just waiting for the PCT. I have no B symptoms or anything
will keep you posted xx
