Hello
About to finish 6 cycles of ABVD which has been ok ish. I was stage 4 with bone involvement. After a PET after cycle 2 I was told I’m in full remission. As the following 4 cycles have taken there toll and my last chemo is Wednesday! I started to feel my neck again which I haven’t since I started chemo because I suppose I didn’t want to know if the lumps were still there! But today I did a deep feel around and I can still feel lumps! And on my diagnosis letter it says non sclerosis. I suppose I’m scared chemo kept me protected and after next week I’m back to normal. Sorry for the depressing post Phil C
Hi Phil, at this stage try not to second guess what's going on, you don't say how big the nodes got to pre treatment but if they were a reasonable size then the is every chance what you are feeling is scar tissue. Only your final scan will show if that's the case and if you have remained clear which is the norm since your last scan.
As you are concerned rather than wait why not ring and speak to your specialist nurse or have a chat with the consultant.
Finally just remember that the majority of people who have a clear scan after 2 cycles remain clear and its still unusual for someone to relapse during treatment.
Just for info I still had scar tissue 4 years post treatment for NHL and was told I would have it for life,
John
Hi Phil,
John is right, scar tissue will have formed and might take a while to disperse, in John's case it hasn't....but I think with a clear scan you should feel pretty confident its gone. You should be followed up anyway, but if you've any concerns do phone in...

Yes, I am the same with regards to scar tissue in my neck.
My growth was the 'size of a brick' as my consultant said and following all my treatment I was convinced that it had not gone but eventually my consultant helped me understand that this was what it is...... and a scan later on in prep for my Stem Cell Transplant confirmed this and I am now 6 years on from that treatment and the scar tissue is still there.
It now all about gaining trust in your body - have a look at this great paper as it highlights the road to post treatment recovery.
