Following chemo on Monday we’ve been to A and E tonight and they asked my husband to wear a mask to protect himself and we were escorted to A and E to ensure we were prioritised and isolated as much as possible. Thanks for the links .

  • Good morning , sorry to hear a trip to A&E was required but unfortunately this can be normal. I do hope that you are doing ok.

Reassuring that these precautions were taken. Over the past years I have had my fair share of A&E visits and from the very start my team told us to call 111 (out of Clinic hours) and they organised a safe passage through A&E and never had to wait in the waiting room, or were taken to a side room away from crowds, basically isolated until I was seen.

Even more important at this time ((hugs)) from a distance.

    Morning

Thank you,  and , we were discharged and all was okay (low temp and other side effects to get checked out but thankfully no signs of infection) .I was encouraged by how much quicker our visit was and the precautions being taken compared to all our previous visits before diagnosis.

  • Good to hear all is ok Shazspike.
Ive just been in to give blood and had to pop up to haematology to get a prescription and everyone is wearing a mask but where I was sent to give blood no one was wearing a mask.
    Not sure of their thinking.

  • Hi,

masks are really a barrier/reminder to you stopping you touching your own face, unless they are fully fitting masks. Other than that, you wear one if you yourself have an infection that you can pass on.

  • Everyone on here with HL, take extra care as lymphomas and leukaemia are indeed in an at risk group. Hand washing far more than usual, before eating, touching your face, after the loo etc is needed even more than normal now!

    Stay safe!
