Does anyone know how soon hair grows back after ABVD?

  • Hi and welcome to this corner of the Community.

I have a different type of Lymphoma that had a different treatment but did lose my hair three times.

So from my experience..... (this is taken from Macmillan info but it was spot on)

Two to three weeks after chemotherapy ends: soft fuzz.

One month after: real hair starts to grow at its normal rate.

Two months after: an inch of hair.

How long it takes to grow back a full head of hair (and pubic hair, lashes, and brows if you lost them too) varies from person to person.

    Hi,

I finished ABVD pretty much exactly 4 months ago and I have around an inch. It has grown slower than I expected.

    hope this helps

    Hello.

I finished  6 cycles of ABVD on Nov 8th and I now have 2-3 inches of hair. Going to get a hair cut on Monday as it happens.

For me though my hair actually started growing back before the end of treatment so I got a head start.

Due to pretty severe neuropathy in my feet my haematologist decided to half Vinblastine after 4 cycles and then after no improvement dropped it completely.

I noticed my hair growing back after a few weeks from that point so it must have been the Vinblastine that was making it fall out.

It might be my imagination but it seems to have actually grown back a little bit thicker.

I've also been a minoxidil user for nearly 20 years and I've heard that can help it regrow quicker.

    Hope that helps.

  • My sons grew back towards the end of chemo treatment, slightly thicker and darker than previously.

  • Daughters grew back ok and normally after she finished ABVD, but after her auto SCT it grew back thicker and curlier than before, took about a year to return to her ‘normal’
