Hi I'm new to this group and just looking for similar thoughts or experiences,

How soon after finishing treatment did you travel? I finished 16 days ago and I am currently in Portugal on holidays, I should of been finished 27 days ago but due to an infection my treatment was put back. My neutrophils were lowish 6 days ago but had risen to 1.1 two days before travel. I wore a mask when traveling and I am being extra cautious of germs. What is everyone's thoughts? Am I being stupid or should I just relax and enjoy

  • Hi Holly,

i would ‘stay aware’ (take temp if you feel unwell, be sensible about foods etc) but enjoy your break.

Hopefully the lymphoma and treatment will soon be a memory!

  • Hi Holy , I am with moomy on this, don't let this encroach on your holiday, enjoy the time away and just take extra care coming back through the airport and flight....... I am rather envious of you considering the weather we are having in the Highlands...... but the sun is coming back at the end of the week - or is that just a rumour.

    Hi

I would say try to relax and enjoy your holiday as much as you can - you deserve it after all! As long as you are making sure to reduce your risk of infection as much as possible, I don't see any reason why you can't enjoy your holiday. Not long after my chemo (and sometimes during) I was going back up to Liverpool (where I was at uni beforehand) on crowded trains which I was told to be aware of, but I was fine. Just made sure to wash my hands a lot etc and not get too close to anyone who was coughing etc. I have also just come back from a 10 day holiday in the Caribbean and have been ok over there - I finished my chemo in may. I was still careful (only drank bottled water over there and things like that) but I still enjoyed it - so don't let the worries take over your holiday!
