Hi. I'm undergoing chemo for stage 2A HL. I've finished 5 cycles till now of ABVD. Of late, I've noticed I the chave a small bump/lump like thing on the right side of my head, at the top. There's a similar thing on the left as well, but the right one is comparatively bigger. Now I'm not sure if this has always been there or not. I probably noticed it clearly considering the hair is gone. I asked my doc about it and he said it happens during chemo. But I don't seem to find any similar instance online. It's probably just the contouring of my head. But I'm worried. My recent PET showed shrinkage in the original collar bone lump and seemed fine. But since PET usually shows a black blotch in the head area, how would it be determined if there's indeed a problem there?
Should I be worried?
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am so sorry to see the circumstance that brought you here.
I am Mike Thehighlander andI help out on the Community. I am sorry for the wait for a reply but must have missed it when it came in.
I don’t have HL but have lived and be treated for over 20 years with my type of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma so I am not a medical expert and can only talk from my cancer journey.
My main growth area responded very well to my various treatments but I also found over my treatments that lumps and bumps would come and go and like yourself I would tell my team but they were not concerned about this. One consultant did say that the educated bleach (chemo) will make the body do peculiar things as it clears the blood system out.
I worked on the rule “If my main Haematology team were happy we was delighted”
But if you have any concerns call your contact cancer nurse and talk it through.
When you have the time it would be helpful if you could put some information about yourself and the journey that brought you to the Community into your profile as it really does help the Community members to help you and get to know you.
Click on your username and that will take you to your homepage. Look for ‘Edit my Profile’ click on it and start to tell us as much or as little about yourself as you want then click on save before closing the page. You could look at my profile for ideas but it is rather long as the journey has been long ;)
