Has anyone been advised about smear tests after an HPV 16+ throat cancer. The NHS doesn’t do them after 70. Is it necessary or advisable to ask for them.
No. There is no relationship between oropharyngeal and cervical cancer except they are largely caused by the same virus. . HPV cancer takes years to develop. 20+ years. If your last test detected no HPV ( which is the first test they do these days) then there is little point at 70.
