Good news first - on Thursday HH saw the radiologist and Baby-onck....they both seemed pleased with progress although babyOnck only looked at him across the desk!!  We have been told to arrange blood tets, another Mri and CT scan and send them the results... All was going pretty well, except I noticed over the w/e he was getting a 'toad-throat'.....I didn't say anything, but today he has noticed it himself as its very wobbly...I suspect its that Lymphoedema thing I had read about......any experience of this?  Not sure its here for good...or not...he will be upset if he's stuck with it.  This comes of always being a rather handsome (if grumpy) sod!!  ...what fun.   Said no-one. Ever. I think I have read somewhere there's compression treatments/bandages and also massaging it?  I am pretty sure that Mickey55 has written about this...thats stuck in my mind!

  • If it's just started then get massaging. Have a look at my blog. There is a video of a very simple technique. I used to do fifty strokes every time I went for a pee and it went pretty quickly.

  • If you look at the bottom of my profile I have listed a YouTube site as recommended by my lymphoedema nurse and also the neck compression garment as recommended.  I found both really helped.  If you can get in to see your hospitals lymphoedema nurse for some advice before it gets too bad - even better.

  • Yes, I just found it and watched it through, sent it to HH.  He has put quite a bit of the lost weight back on in the past 3 weeks...about 4kilo...think this may also have conttributed to it.

  • ha ha...as a bloke...that might not exactly work...unless I want piddle up the walls and on the ceiling!!!!!

On a practical level once I had learned the techniques I used to just sit there and massage - watching TV, in the pub or at a meeting.  I still do it although I probably don't need to.  It is sort of comforting.

With the compression neck gaiter I wore that during the day whilst moving about, driving etc.  I found it too hot to wear throughout the night.

I knew you’d come back with that as soon as I hit reply.

  • Nothing if not predictable!!!  ha ha

  • When the Lymphoedema appeared under my chin it was the consultant who was looking after me who instructed me on how to massage the area... been doing it for nearly 3 years now...20 downward strokes after shaving every morning... works a treat.

Why don’t you try massaging towards intact lymph nodes. The ones behind your ears are usually ok. That way you open up permanent channels for drainage so that you don’t have to keep doing it.
