Hi Everyone,
Just a quick message to say merry Christmas to everyone going through or about to go through treatment and those who are post treatment.
Also a big thank you to the team on this forum who have got me through the past 12 months since my treatment ended ,answering my concerns and putting my mind at rest.
12 months on I still have lots of taste issues ,and if I eat the wrong foods I suffer for days afterwards. I wake up with a dry / sore throat most mornings, and my mouth never feels how it used to ,always a strange taste but I think of what the alternative would have been ,and thank my teams at Rotherham ENT and Western Park Sheffield for everything they did and continue to do.
Maybe one day I won't struggle as much to accept my new normal , but as long as this group is still here it helps.
This year I will be having a Christmas Dinner with my wife and Family and looking forward to it!
Best wishes to all and Thankyou Xx
Mark

Hi Mark,
thanks and great to hear from you
we’ve been there, and yes takes time to get used to “new me”, but just think of yourself as you are able to eat, and will takes time to have chilli etc.
i couldn’t have spice food at list 2 years postpone the treatment, but even now (going to y4), i am enjoying it but, it can be painful, but love it…
i can’t have much of red wine, or strong drinks, but i don’t mind…. Beer is brilliant and prosecco ok (not my favourite, but…), chocolate too… it will be better .. take care and how my surgeon said “enjoy your new taste buds and explore”
merry Christmas and wishing you tasty new year
