Hi everyone ,

Woke up this morning, the worst dry mouth I've had in  months! Really getting me down ,as I think I'm going backwards after a good stretch with enough saliva to eat without sipping drinks. I was eating crisps and "snacky food " yesterday at a Xmas buffet ,wondering if that's caused it ,anyone shine a light on this or had it happen?

  • I get flares of this and can put it down to what I’ve eaten usually. I know my triggers,  stop eating them for a while and tape my mouth at night for a week or so. Works for me

  • Hi, Spider. it does seem like one step forward and two back at times, I'm over 8 years post treatment, and I still get changes from time to time.  I've heard it said the treatment is the gift that just keeps giving.

  • Thanks Dani ,I thought that might be what it may be .X I'll stop the cheap oven snacks !!

  • Thanks Ray ,your so right there!!

  • Hi  you’ve  answered your own question  the salt in snacks things are drying to normal people to us they suck the moisture out. I tend to have cheese and crackers instead of crisps if I fancy something savoury.  Not too  many but use a few different crackers and especially this time of year different cheese

  • I still find my mouth changes frequently.  What was good last week becomes a struggle this.  There is no trigger for my changes that I can see.  I guess the one constant I can eat happily is "snacky food" - sausage rolls, pork pies and crisps (ridge, lightly salted is my go to).  My cholesterol levels may not appreciate those foods, but they work for me for a lunch/treat with a drink and allow me to tackle other foods that are more of a challenge at dinner.
