My treat was in 2014 for tumor in my sublingual salivary gland. Had the neck dissection and forearm free flap package followed by 6 weeks of RT. I blogged through that if it’s any help to anyone.
So where are we now ( if you’re a fan of a particular true crime podcast that phrase will ring a bell!)
I had a plate made by the hospital team last year ( 10 years post treatment ) to replace the lost teeth on the lower left side. It was so uncomfortable to start off with but now it fits like a glove. Still can’t chew effectively on that side as the replacement bit of tongue doesn’t play ball, but it feels better having teeth over there.
unfortunately the RT has left me with osteoradionecrosis and I’ve lost 2 more teeth over the years from them just working loose and falling out. The plate now helps to Support the next tooth along although Im Really not sure how that’s hanging in.
I have a dry mouth, very dry over night. I think I get occasional infections, but my consultant has given me a supply of antibiotics ready for this I can use.
I’m still seen every 6 months because of the ORN, which is kinda reassuring.
Aside from having my teeth in a glass over night, the dry mouth, the ORN, the bad breath and the battle scars, I’m just the same as I was before with everything else.

Hi and welcome back. Thanks for the update. You could edit your post and put where your blog is at the end
