hi all iam wondering if anyone on here has sufferd with a loss of voice almost a year since finishing radiotherapy and a bit od chemo for throat cancer? my voice was fine and 1 day it went and its still not come back almost a yr post treatment this has happened, iam currently away c r scan results but really want to know if this can be normal?
Mine comes and goes but never totally disappears. I often think I'm speaking normally only to be told I'm very quiet. Not sure what is causing it. I just have to watch the reactions of those I'm speaking to and take a swig of water and hope my volume returns.

Hi Donna, I used to get really husky but it never completely went. At least you've had your CT. It might simply be fibrosis where the RT hit your larynx. Fingers crossed it's something simple and temporary.

Hi dpanky, I lost my voice 3 weeks into my treatment, it just totally went, it came back after about 10 weeks, although I could only speak a few sentences at first, it took a few more weeks before it was back to normal. It's good they are looking into it, hopefully they can put your mind at rest soon.
Ray.
When it comes back clear get yourself referred, insist, to SLT straightaway. The sooner you get help in fixing this the better. Hugs

Hi Donna,
Long time since we messaged! I very occasionally get a reduced voice but at my check ups they just say it's scar tissue ,swelling and inflammation from RT that's causing it ,I'm sure you'll get the ok , you may have over worked your voice a tad. I still get soreness and pain from the simplest of things but come on here for reassurance. Enjoy being away
