Hi all,
so I had tongue cancer last year and had surgery to remove the tumour. Quite unlucky as i'm only 29, but ah well. Surgery removed a large portion of my right lateral tongue and unfortunately the surgeon had to cut the nerve to get a large enough margin, so I can't feel or taste on that side anymore and my speech has been affected. I'm applying for uni and was wondering if I can get disabled student allowance? I have been going round in circles with their incredibly confusing website. So I'm almost 1 year cancer free, but I have to have regular checkups to check for recurrence, google suggested I can get DSA but another website said I can't and I was just wondering if anyone knows if I would count for it? Extra money would be very useful when I have bills to pay and can't get much maintenance loan
Does your university have a disability advisor ? That would be my first port of call.
