Hi everyone! My husband's thrush is better, but not sure it is completely gone. He will be calling the nurse today to discuss that and his lack of saliva. He is having such a hard time with dry mouth and throat now that things he ate easily before are giving him trouble. He did well with milkshakes before and had one last night, but it hurt his throat. He wasn't sure if it was the temperature or the thickness. This whole thing is like a difficult puzzle to figure out. I am back to tracking his calories again as I don't want him to lose anymore weight. He is using the salt/baking soda rinse often and completed 10 days of nystatin. On the bright side of things, we had a great day yesterday planting flowers and completing spring projects. One day at a time! Thanks again for being here!!
Hi
saliva takes a long time to normalise. A pocket spray of water is better than constantly sipping water which washes any saliva away. Using a tiny sip of warm tea as a proxy saliva when eating helps to chew and swallow.
Have a look at acupuncture. It helped me. There are two posts about it in my blog.

I'm 18 months down the line and no saliva. I use oralieve spray and I buy xylimelts tablets to stick to gum overnight. As everything tastes bitter there are lots if foods I cannot eat, so I still take one fortisip a day to get the right vitamins. I don't expect things to improve any further. But saying that I am fine and enjoying life and grateful for the treatment and on going care I receive.
