Continual joint pain and anaemia.  Since treatment of course my thyroid has been compromised and now on thyroxin. I was folate deficient for a while but that’s rectified itself However, I’m still anaemic and not absorbing iron. Throughout this process my joint pain is worsening particularly in my hands, but also in my knees, feet and shoulders. My blood tests for arthritis were negative as were all my other tests for inflammatory markers, etc.

It’s now debilitating and causes me to wake through pain and discomfort.  Is anyone else experiencing these issues.  My GP has written to my oncologist asking for advice, I’m due to see him in a fortnight.

I'm 20 months post ChemoRadio so not understanding why the past 6 months this is all happening.

  • My goodness really. I’ll ask about that. What relevance are the finger nails micky? I hope you’ve effective pain management.  Was this condition pre-existing or since diagnosis?

  • Thanks for this, I’m glad you’re well and hopefully C free.  My nails are all ridged and break/split horizontally but I’ve never suffered with psoriasis.  I’ll raise it at my next appointment. I appreciate your time xx stay well xx

    Hi

Sorry to hear you are suffering this way. If your inflammatory markers are negative it's not PsA so something else must be going on. I have a friend whose fibromyalgia was rekindled after the stress of CRT. Have you ever suffered?

I am on statins and RT made my joint and muscle pain so uncomfortable I stopped taking them. The relief is a joy.

Maybe your thyroxin dose isn't stable. Are you well monitored? My late husband suffered from hypothyroidism after laryngeal RT and he ached all over the place till his dose was titrated properly and even then it was under review frequently

I hope you find an answer
