Hi everyone,
19 weeks post treatment, and this last 2 weeks my throat and tongue have been exceptionally dry, I could quite easily say that my recovery seems to have gone back 6 weeks easily! As in previous posts I thought it might be the start of my hayfever ,but I never used to get a real scratchy throat before treatment. I have been eating lots of different food stuffs recently, but not sure what this is , no sign of thrush. My neck at the front below the jawline is tender if I press too hard when doing my lymphodema massages.could this still be a part of recovery ? The dryness and scratchy feeling is mostly on the side that had most RT ,I may have asked this before but any advice would be appreciated. I wake up in the morning and can't swallow properly until after my first drink!
Many thanks Mark
Hi Mark
Recovery and going forwards is a back and forward process. 5 months is still early days. Even nearly 18 months post treatment I find that what I can do/eat one week the following week it is off the agenda. I guess we learn to live with the "new" us and each adjust to what that means. Where I am at the moment does not worry me as I have learned this is normal for me, but may be totally alien to someone who has also had the same treatment - it is strange how we all react differently.
I recognise much of what you are describing so I think it is normal, but if you are unsure then get in contact with your CNS for proper advice.
Hi Mark. As Dani says it’s a marathon not a sprint. Improvement continue to happen I can at 7 years manage something to eat over in Spain that I’ve not been able to since treatment started. A very mild korma Most of my improvements were like Dani’s. So fingers x for counselling today. I’m lucky in the opposite a glass half full person. You’ll get some backward steps but eventually the forward steps will outnumber them. We’re always here for you
hugs

It's just my make up ,half empty glass
That’s me too Mark. Always prepared for the worst and surprised by the best. Thankfully I have a husband who is completely the opposite so he keeps me even.
Mark, even miserable people get cured. They just have a harder time of it getting there. Hugs from one half empty glass to another
