Anxious beyond belief

  • You’re in the system sadly worrying won’t alter anything. Make sure you have pain killers prescribed and remeber it’s just part of getting better.

PEG fitting was OK....sedated beforehand ...fell asleep....felt nothing ....woke up and all was done....kept in overnight for observation...5 days of moderate abdominal muscle pain after....very well controlled by pain meds.....useful info.....MI_9809514_04.05.22_V_1_pilot.pdf

  • Hi , Had my peg fitted 7 weeks ago, it’s quite strange but not been a problem, haven’t needed to use yet as still managing to swallow water and ensure nutrition drinks to keep my weight stable, routine now with the peg to clean couple times a day and then flush, have to change water in the bubble every week, this was a bit daunting at first as had visions of tugging it out whilst trying to do Thumbsup tone1ut no dramas now just takes couple of minutes, hopefully you won’t need to use it but it’s there if you do, don’t worry about it you’ll soon get used to it dangling there, I’ve just finished week five of six chemo radiation for base of tongue HPV and so far so good keep positive my friend Thumbsup tone1Wink

  • Hi Spencerbear

I know how you feel. However you need to look at it as a way forward. I do not know how I would have done without the peg. The procedure was quick. I had to stay overnight as I had anaesthetic. A bit uncomfortable for the first few days but nothing that painkillers could not deal with,  I quickly learnt how to look after it and it became part of my daily routine very quickly.

    Sending you loads of love.
