Hi to everyone.
I've just spent some time reading through some of the posts and lovely to see the wonderful support continues as we all deal with various aspects of cancer. We still are so incredibly grateful for the words of those who had walked the walk before us. It makes a huge difference to those facing the wall of a cancer diagnosis and treatment. So thank you again.
I just wanted to let everyone know my husband is now 2 years since he had THE diagnosis p16 tonsil cancer with lymph nodes. A designer mask and 6wks of radiotherapy/chemo. The physical and emotional journey is relentless. Every day a challenge those days turn into weeks and then months. Now for we are talking in years. That seemed so far away in those early days.
But in these words there lies Hope for those of you on your own journey. Knowing there is an end to your tunnel. The fear, anxiety, pain, sleepless nights. Worried family faces.
My husband has certainly made an incredible recovery. Eating and drinking what ever he wants. Only chocolate and ice cream don't deliver the full pre treatment taste but still enjoyable. He still suffers from fatigue at times however he is 2 urs older
We know he is lucky with both the type of cancer and the level of his recovery.. For this we are both immensely grateful.
We are back to walking the wonderful fells in the Lakes, infact we now live in south Lakes..
Cancer has definately changed our lives forever, I don't suppose it is something you can ever forget fully. However within that change we actively seek new ways to enjoy the simple things in life. Making the most of the life we are given. Walking a fell with a well earned drink in a lakeland pub is one of our simple Joy's.
So we are sending love to everyone, to those still providing valuable support and those of you finding your own way through. May you all find your new life out the other side. Xx
Hi GailH, it's really good to hear your husband had a good recovery and is doing so well. Posts like this are really inspiring for those who are just starting out, having treatment or recovering. It shows there is light at the end of the tunnel, and a good live can still be had, after it all.
now live in south Lakes
I recall we had a conversation about this earlier but I can’t recall details. Where have you moved to? I used to live in Stavely and Garth Row both just outside Kendal
Well done Mr Gail. ️

Hi there.
We have moved inbetween Cartmel and Allithwaite. A little place to significantly simplify life, basicly sold up home and business. So lots of lovely easier walks and of course pubs and restaurants to enjoy afterwards.
Plus nice and accessible for the more challenging South fells. The Lakes being for many years our preferred holiday destination.
It's our perfect life, making new friends and lots of visits from our friends back in Lancashire too.
Petes taken up golf and I've even joined the local WI. So definately enjoying our 60s in many ways we didnt think possible 2 years ago. Funny how life events can completely change your outlook.
Hope life is treating you and yours well..
Gail H.
