Evening all, just a little niggle is it normal 12wks post RT to have little ulcer on roof of mouth as I did whilst undergoing treatment? Just feels uncomfortable when I have anything warm to eat/ drink. Had the camera down nose/ throat on my checkup yesterday and oncologist said all looked fine. Am I being over sensitive? Thanks, Pam

  • Hi Psm yes it’s not unusual I can still get ulcers 6 years later especially if I try a new food or something that irritates me. As always if it’s still there 3 weeks after contact your cancer nurse. I now can use bonjela it’s too early for you to try that but if you’ve gelclair try that if you can buy aliclair online. Often I find a saltwater and bi carb  rinse worked.

  • Hi Pam

Little mouth niggles do appear every so often causing us concern, I have a Difflam mouth spray, still use it 20 months on....we took a bit of a hammering in the mouth/throat area.

I have Psoriatic arthritis and take methotrexate as part of my treatment, methotrexate also causes mouth ulcers, I have an ongoing  prescription for Clenil Modulite inhalers for oral cavity ulcer relief...works well...CNS and oncology are OK with this.

    He’s right.

  • Hi Pam... almost a year clear and I still get the odd random ulcer on the roof of my mouth.. they go almost as quickly as they arrive though, so don't give them a second thought anymore...
