Post Treatment Muscle Loss - Women particularly bit personal and intimate

Hi, I’m a year yesterday from completing treatment for T2N1M0. All is well, PET scans and ultrasounds are good to date.  However, through the previous year before diagnosis of constant hard coughing, then the diagnosis and treatment and side effects thereof including fierce vomiting, sluggish bowl and persistent constipation through pain relief medication, I’ve lost an awful lot of muscle tone, but of most concern internally.  Have any of you experienced vaginal prolapse due to all the above? My muscle build up is still very slow despite my high protein diet, and still mega fast metabolism it seems, I still struggle with some foods as you’ll know, takes a while. Should I visit my GP about it or let it lie as I don’t think it’s fixable from what I’ve read so far. Theres so much to deal with post treatment that haunts me still, stuff you just can’t bring yourself to talk about.  I hate it.

  • Hi  Nix please visit your gp I was lucky didn’t suffer too badly with muscle mass loss. But am sure there’s stuff they can do for a prolapsed vagina . Dont suffer because if your previous treatment.,

Let us know how you get on please always helpful for others, great you've reached the one year as well

  • I haven’t but please don’t leave it. My mum suffered because of chronic constipation as a result of long term opiate use for pain.
There’s lots you can do. Pelvic floor exercises are a must. NEVER get constipated. Mum had a vaginal ring to hold things in place latterly but initially exercises and oestrogen helped enormously

    Don’t give up.

  • Hi Nix

Definitely go to your G.P. for advice and don't suffer in silence. Not anything to do with a vaginal prolapse but I suffered really bad bladder incontinence for 2 years after menopause and did not consult my doctor. It really impacted my life. I finally had enough and went to my G.P. who sent me to a specialist and she got it sorted out in no time. All good now and no more rushing to the toilet and having accidents. Sometimes we think that nothing can be done but you don't know until you consult the experts.

  • I suggest finding a pelvic floor specialist.  You will probably have to go private. They usually operate out of well women clinics and private physio facilities.  Ask your GP to recommend.  Lizzie x
