Hi had tonsillectomy yesterday and biopsy on base of tongue. They were looking for primary tumour but they said they had not found anything but said that the tissues would be looked at along with the biopsy. The doctors said it was good sign that no big tumour found.but it leaves me wondering what has caused the tumour on my neck lymph nodes which is HPV.. also worrying now about the suspicions about lymph nodes on right armpit and left groin, which they did biopsy on wednesday.I have been told dose not follow the pattern of normal HPV neck cancer .I was told it may be lymphoma as I said before.Sorry for babbling but but trying to figure out is it good or bad not knowing were the primary cancer is.

Hi.
I think you are getting ahead of yourself. It’s best to wait for the pathology. Very often they do find the primary and go on to further treatment with chemoradiation. If they find nothing then they may suggest watch and wait along with a neck dissection to remove other lymph nodes. This is exactly what has happened to Peter. You can read his story by clicking in his name PFJTHS
Its a discussion to have with your team once your biopsy results are back.
Good luck.

Thank you again sometimes I read into things and my mind goes overtime with worry
Hi, I had a tonsillectomy and base of tongue removal, after PET scan showed cancer under left tonsil. Scan showed the cancer was a little deaper where the left tonsil had been, so had another operation, and a neck dissection at the same time to remove the affected lymph node, I had others removed at the same time. I too had HPV diagnosis. Dani is right wait for results before worrying. I know it’s hard, my mind went into overdrive, but stay on here you will get the support you need. I did this group was my lifeline, and one of the best pieces of advice I got was stay off dr Google
