Hi,Hope everyone is doing OK.
Just wanted to update after my appointment yesterday
So after MRI/ PET CT and tonsillectomy I was told that no spread anywhere else and no sign of cancer in the tonsills. At this stage no primary has been located. They are suggesting from the scan a possible area at the back of nose but apparantlly it is so tiny that the scan cannot confirm so I am now booked in for a further biopsy of that area plus a further biopsy of the swollen lymph node in neck. Doctor advised that if he were grading today it would be classed as Grade 1 as so tiny although I thought once in a lymph node it was a higher grade. Advised that if primary still not found on upcoming biopsy I will begin Chemo/Radio regardless in a few weeks after biopsy results and possible tongue scrape and lymph node removal.
Overall felt a little more positive after yesterday's appointment as I had gone fearing the worst outcome so although not out of the woods yet I do feel a weight has been lifted and I kind of know what we are dealing with.

Hi Paul . You are sounding so much more upbeat. Once things get started it takes a real load off your mind. Peter's story is similar to yours but he went with surgery and watch and wait without RT. It was four years before the primary revealed itself and he has recently finished treatment. Have a look at his profile PFJTHS

Hi Peter. Thankyou for your reply. I have looked through your story and see similaraties to my own. After speaking to the doctor and he advising that the cancer was not picked up on scans meaning it was very small he did state that due to the size if he was grading he would grade as stage 1 although am I correct thinking that if it is already in 1 lymph node the grading must be higher.?
is already in 1 lymph node the grading must be higher.?
HPV cancers aren’t graded but they are staged
Stage 1
The cancer is 4cm or smaller. The lymph nodes might contain cancer cells on the same side of the neck as the cancer. None of the nodes are larger than 6cm.
