Two years on from such a shock and out of the blue , diagnosis. This  followed 'just a cough' and then a massive haemorrhage in his throat January '22

He has gone from no treatment envisaged or possible to 10 days mild, palliative radiotherapy to give him a few extra weeks of Summer 2022.

Then Immunotherapy began in August '22....Pembrolizumab...every 6 weeks. Luckily there have been minimal side effects and treatment is ongoing until August.

His oncologist has said they are extremely pleased with the results of the treatment. The last 2 CT scans indicate a measurable reduction in the tumour in the lymph nodes particularly and no progression elsewhere.

He feels and looks fine. No different than before all of this happened All I can say is....we have had an extra 2 years that we didn't think was possible. Thanks to modern medicine and our dedicated NHS

We finally found travel insurance that would cover his Terminal Cancer diagnosis ( at a huge cost I might add) and can go on a cruise holiday. in March. .....almost normal!

  • Hello...I am so pleased for you and thank you so so much for finding the time to pop back on with your good news. I well remember you telling us how awful things had turned out, the haemorrhage and the bleak outlook. You have given others so much hope. We have an other member who has just started immunotherapy. I'll tag them into this thread so that they can see it's possible ......

I hope you both have much more time together

  • Hi Mynydd, it's so good that his treatment is working so well and giving you this extra time together, I hope it continues to give you lots more time. I agree our NHS is a wonderful thing, we are so lucky to have it, and its hard-working staff, who look after us so well. Great news about the cruise, I'm sure you will have a great time, my wife and I love cruising.  All the best to you both.
