Update from me - my planned neck dissection and TORS mucosectomy that was planned for tomorrow has had to be rescheduled.
The plan to remove my 3 remaining wisdom teeth in the weeks before surgery started well and then went awry. The first two came out without too many issues other than pain, so when I only had one left to go, I foolishly thought “half the teeth, half the pain” Oh how wrong could I be!
My last remaining wisdom tooth wasn’t coming out without a battle and I came away from the extraction appointment feeling like I’d done ten rounds with Anthony Joshua. There was swelling as expected, but my face just grew bigger every day and got to the point it was alarming. I rang up the hospital and they asked me to go up straight away. Great news I thought, some antibiotics and I should be back on track. Wrong again!! Emergency surgery and a few days in hospital was on order, and my cancer surgery pushed back by two weeks.
I’m home now recovering from what was quite an ordeal for one tooth! If anyone has ever been intubated via the nose whilst conscious will understand what I went through.
I am fairly new to this journey but I’ve already learned that the cancer train changes track a lot, and I should expect the unexpected. Hope everyone is having a better time than I am at the moment. Sending love!

Ouch....No! Twice but with a cocktail of intravenous stuff that made it all go away
Hope the face settles down soon and you can get on with it...Hugs

Oh no not want you want. But let your gave settle downs the best way for you don’t want radiotherapy or more surgery until it’s settled down. The wait won’t have an impact many have to wait for slots to be come available in the theatre or radiotherapy .

Hi Cariad
What an ordeal for you and now having to wait for your surgery, that's a blow. You really mentally work up to these ops and then when it goes astray it is hard. I know what you mean about the intubation by the nose. I had something similar where they put the breathing tube down through my mouth while I was awake. This was because I have such limited mouth opening. They did deaden my throat but it got to a certain spot down my windpipe and it was agony. I nearly crushed the poor nurse's hand at that stage, but then I was out like a light. I had to apologise to the nurse when I was in recovery as I was afraid I had really hurt him. It is certainly not the best experience.
I do hope you have a very quick recovery from the tooth op. Who would have thought those teeth can cause so much trouble.
Best wishes
Lyn
