  • Hi

To have to go through such an invasive and horrid treatment too be faced with this must be devastating for you both.

We have a Community Champ  who is permanently PEG fed as a result of RT damage. He has coped well and hopefully he will be around to give advice

  • Good evening deebo, as Dani has mentioned i have been PEG/RIG dependent since 2010 although i can still swallow thin liquids like water, coffee, and tea. I also had my voicebox removed because of the cancer. Like your husband, my nerves were damaged after my first and second operations including radio and chemo, I know what you mean about getting rid of cancer and now have to go through all of this but with time I learned to adjust to my new way of life and i can say life is very good considering what i/we went through.I  have always found that taking things a day at a time did help me along with having a positive attitude Of course we all have good and bad days but your husband should be well looked after by a dietician, speech therapist plus his consultant. I know treatment and procedures have changed since 2010 plus groups like this are all online for honest advice, looking on Google can often be misleading so i  try and avoid it as much as possible. Wishing you and your husband all the best, take care.

    Hi

Who is looking after your husband re the RIG you mentioned? What have they said about any changes being permanent? Have you access to a long term effects clinic? Where is he being treated? Sorry for the questions.

  • Good evening deebo, sorry to hear your husband is not getting the support he is entitled to, as Dani mentioned who is looking after your husband other than yourself. There should be help out there for you and your husband so maybe get in contact with your dietician, or speech and language therapist. Take care.
