Update on my surgery for jaw cancer
happy new year to you all and hope you all had a good Christmas I’m doing great, had all clear as tumour was cut out but had six weeks of radiotherapy I’m just about through the side effects of that now since I finished September.
im having to move in three weeks so having to be referred for two more ops to my mouth and dental reconstruction to another hospital which I hope don’t keep me waiting too long.
during the whole process of my cancer surgery etc we were being evicted by a particularly nasty woman, we agreed to leave in the end as need our life back and have found somewhere new nearer to our children, so I’m happy but I hate leaving the team at York hospital as I felt safe with them all, hope next hospital will be as caring.
I will have check ups now every four to five weeks for a year then not as many in second year, hoping things go to plan and I can move on without any further recurrences.
Ill keep in touch on here as like to read your stories treatment recoveries, I have light at the end of my tunnel, only negatives are I can’t eat properly, I can take soups soft deserts custards sauces with soft pastas x,as dinner wasn’t great puréed, but most still goes through my peg which I’ve had in since last may, the surgeons feel best it stays until all dental work is done, I think it will be in possible for another six month x
anyway sending out lots of love and prayers to the newbies about to embark on their journey, do as the team tell you on your journey they DEFINATELY know best, and sending lots of lots love to the oldies on here who have been there got the t shirt x

So glad to read how upbeat you seem after all you’ve been through. Your positive attitude shines through to help others on their way
Don’t worry too much about your new team I’m sure you’ll be well cared for. A good CNS is worth their weight in gold. It might be worth finding out who they are and sending them a messsge to say hi A box of chocolates or a bag of pastries at your next appointment wouldn’t go amiss either
Best of luck, keep in touch and happy New Year xx

Hi Tiadora, it's good to hear you are doing so well. I'm sure your next hospital will give you the same good care, you have already had. As for the nasty landlady, I'd never wish anybody any harm, but I do believe in Karma. All the best for your future ops and dental reconstruction. Keep us updated. Best wishes for the new year.
Ray.
Hi Tiadora sending love and hugs bad to you. Are you still in Yorkshire ?Hoping your new hospital is as good as York

Still here near York but moving home to the south where I was born, never did like it up here away from my family, I’m hoping it’s addenbrooks or Norfolk and Norwich hospital see what my surgeon can advise on x will keep all updated as I go along x
Hi Tiadora
It is great to hear that things are going well for you but a pity about the landlady. I'm sure that the new medical team will be as good as your last one although it is a bit hard moving onto a new team. I have been with mine for some years now and you build a real rapport with them after all that time.
What reconstruction are you waiting to have done? I am very happy after my reconstruction in Feb this year although eating is still a bit of an issue. Even with my lovely new upper denture I find I still have to eat very soft food and still rely on soups and puree most of the time. I have managed a soft biscuit and a few crisps and have tried a hot chip which is definitely better than before. I think my dry mouth issue also impacts. However it is not all bad and I am quite happy with the foods I have found work for me.
Hope you don't have to wait too long for your reconstruction.
