Well, just shy of 4 years since diagnosis and I'm once again on the operating table. This is becoming an annual event. However this time it looks 80-90% like a tumour. A week to wait for the panendoscopy and then a couple of weeks for the histology and MDT. My neck has been feeling "different" (not painful or anything concerning) for a month. Routine check-up and not looking good. Offered a PET scan but I've opted for biopsy to confirm then scans to see the extent. Early days, but as it is in a similar location to a previous round (2) I will probably opt for surgery as before and hope for clear margins avoiding RT once again. Somehow I don't think this one will disappear before the main surgery like the last one did.
As ever - updated text in the thread below.
All the best from me as well

Saw the consultant yesterday (15/11) and it is as expected. The cancer has made a reappearance. Scans are next on the list. CT set for the 21st and MRI on 26th.
The consultant is difficult to pin down - I'd never play poker with him! I think he is suggesting, subject to scans, that the cancer may be spread thinly through the base of tongue and the only way to tackle it is radiotherapy. I was hoping to go down the surgery route first, but we will see.
Poetically it is 4 years and a day since I had the first diagnosis.
FOR ANYONE READING THIS, ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW MY CANCER JOURNEY, THE "REGULAR" REAPPEARANCE OF THIS CANCER IS VERY UNUSUAL AND EXTREAMLY RARE. I AM A MEDICAL CURIOSITY. THUS WHILST YOU MAY BE CONCERED ABOUT REOCCURRENCE IT IS UNLIKELY TO HAPPEN TO YOU.
I've updated my bio if anyone want to see my journey.

Oh peter, I’m sorry. You half expected it I guess, nevertheless the reality is still shocking. Hope they get your treatment plan in place soon.
