Hi

I’ve just been told, by text, that this mouthwash is no longer available on prescription. They’ve suggested that I buy it over the counter. Just wondered if this was the same for everyone?

thanks, Lisa x

  • I use Difflam as a mouthwash, weak solution, find that it works well, supplied on prescription. Biotene gel is also supplied... for over 2 years now

  • Hi, I used to use Difflam during and post treatment. I am nearly 2 years on since treatment and switched to Bioxtra.

  • Thanks Dani. I’ve queried it with them so let’s see what they say!
Hope you’re having a lovely time in Wales.

  • I got it last week on prescription from GP. It has to be hand written not computer as computer didn't recognise it so the pharmacist hand wrote it. I then got it from boots. I'm in northern Ireland. Hope this helps

  • Thank you… useful to know. They’ve since said that they can offer it on a private prescription but would be cheaper over the counter. They’ve suggested I have a call with GP to discuss further!

  • news to me... I have it on repeat prescription.. have a word with your oncologist.

  • I am prescribed fluorigard.  I don’t bother with the prescription though both because it is readily available and not much dearer than the one I used to use….and the fact that the pharmacy at the surgery used to give me the one with alcohol when the prescription clearly said no alcohol, so I gave up!

  • The whole thing has been odd. It’s been on repeat for me. My husband when to collect and it wasn’t there. I contacted my surgery and got a message to say my GP had sorted and it would be ready to collect in a few days. Then today, this… ! I’ll update after I speak to a Dr on Monday but will contact oncology too. Thanks, Lx
