PEG has been in place for 16 weeks, not been used for the last 7 weeks (apart from daily flushing).
Finally had PEG removed today at Ninewells Hospital Dundee, was a wee bit apprehensive about the procedure but needn't have worried, slight sharp pain for about 2 seconds when PEG was pulled out, dressing Then applied by nurse (Kirsty) who explained every step and answered every concern, whole thing was over in 10-15 minutes.

Great news Peter. A lot of people worry about the removal. Hopefully this will put them in a better frame of mind about it. Glad your recovery is going well

How long did it take for the tube site to heal? I had my PEG removed today (I think it's called the pull and push method). Was over in seconds. I'm very leaky now though (gah!) which they said is completely normal. I asked about precautions etc and Dr ordered relaxation and fun as I've been through so much over the last months! Nice sentiment but any top tips on managing the removal, most welcome!
Good news Dee. Lots of people get into a real tizz about it. I can point nervous patients to this thread in future.
