Hello Again Everyone,

I hope that you are all as well as can be expected and living as best as you can.

I can't believe that it's Septembetr tomorrow and the colder weather is just arpound the corner.

I just received an email update from the Macmillan Community Team and it feminded me to look in here again and give a wee update on my 'progress'.

I am still not eating much in the way of solid foods like beef, chicken, etc. but I am managing to maintain my weight by eating what I know I can handle. At my last Oncology check up I was offered and accepted a |Swallowing Test and all is well there. It's just the dryness in my mouth/throat that is difficult. I also have a problem where something will get stuck to m y epiglotis and I find it hard to dislodge this and almmost choke at times.

Onwards & Upwards,
Bob T-----

  • Hi Bob you’ll get there I find occasionally I need a sip of a warm drink even at 5 years post ti help sone foods on the way down. Beef and chicken take time I prefer a rare steak nowadays, likewise chicken legs snd thighs easier breast can still be too dry. A slow cooker fir the winter I found invaluable a slow cooked lamb  shoulder hits the spot even better with dumplings ir sweet potato mash.

    good to hear from you.

  • Hi Bob.
Yes a tiny sip of water to help chew your food and an equally tiny sip to swallow often dies the trick. Just keep plugging on and you’ll get there. Are you doing some swallow exercises? Do them a couple of times a day to get those muscles strong. It’s good news that your swallow is ok and you’re not aspirating.
When you  see my  post pop back to yours and edit your surname out

Macmillan are a bit iffy about identifying yourself. Hugs
