Hi friends at Macmillan!

Hope you are well, Great Online Team and Survivors.

I had my second follow up post Treatment PET scan.

The positives are:

1) The operation site is fine. Thank Allah.

2) Right lung nodules seen last time are stable. No significant changes seen.

My main worries now are:

1) The gap underneath the left side of my tongue keeps food particles that causes discomfort and infections.

Now that site is swollen.

2) Lt jaw is affected with this, and I can feel a stiff swelling around and below the chin. (Can it be a Lymphedema?)

3) Excessive Salivation.

4) Speech not improving.

5) Swallowing is getting difficult - It has been fine before three or four weeks earlier.

6) The opening of the tracheostomy tube that administered during operation still didn't heal. I apply Bee Honey daily after cleaning it. I noticed. a slight healing progresses.

*** I really appreciate your help and advice specially about the food particles impaction within that gap. And also, the excess salivation.

  • Hi Ruba. Do you have a Clinical Nurse Specialist to contact your team for you? You obviously need to keep that area clean so they are the best people to show you how.
If anything changes or gets worse your first step should be to see your oncologist. This is very important. It’s difficult for anybody here to offer much if an opinion otherwise. Infection and losing your swallow is not normal and has to be checked.
Best wishes and I hope you get an answer soon
